Mermaid Beach’s KoKo Coffee Roasters
This September we’re heading to Mermaid Beach to feature KoKo Coffee Roasters, the independent Gold Coast roastery founded by Alex Winter in 2016.
KoKo’s story started long before the first batch was roasted. Alex spent time working with coffee-growing communities in Indonesia, an experience that gave him an understanding of coffee from the producer’s side and shaped the way KoKo approaches sourcing today.
Since then, Alex has continued travelling to origin, building relationships with producers and searching for coffees that are interesting, traceable and genuinely worth drinking.
From everyday espresso through to seasonal single origins and rare microlots, KoKo gives us plenty to explore this September.

Why It Matters
Born & Raised represents where modern Melbourne coffee is heading.
